Upcoming Classes

Everybody, me included, is starting to get a bit panicky about how fast the summer is going, and how short the remaining plein air painting season is. Come work outside, and enjoy the opportunity while we have it.

There will be a new session of Friday Morning Plein Air classes beginning 17 August. There will be 10 sessions, extending to 2 November 2012. The dates are 17, 24 & 31 August, 7 & 14 September, 5, 12, 19 & 26 October, and 2 November.

The cost per session is $60. There are ten sessions, but you may enroll in as few as six sessions. Any session that fails to have six participants will be cancelled. Fees will be due monthly, on the first day of the month, for however many sessions you will be attending that month.

The Dead Paintings Society will start up again in the autumn. We can't really accomodate more than 12 students, so please sign up early! Write me about DPS at dbjurney.verizon.net

Donald Jurney Workshops

This site is designed to showcase the landscape and plein air painting workshops of American artist Donald Jurney. These unique offerings present an opportunity to gain technical and philosophical insight into Donald's working methods. Through demonstrations, lectures and critiques you will attain a greater understanding of the visual language of painting, and a heightened observational awareness of what it means to see the world through the eyes of an artist.

Donald Jurney Bio

Donald Jurney was born in Rye, New York in 1945 and was educated at Columbia University, The Pratt Institute and The Art Students League. He has lived and worked in the Hudson River Valley, England and extensively in France. Donald Jurney's paintings are represented by Quidley and Company in both Boston and Nantucket, McColl Fine Art in Charlotte, and the Todd Bonita Gallery in Ogunquit, Maine. His work is widely collected internationally by private and corporate patrons and is included in the permanent collections of the Oakland Museum in California, Museum of the City of New York and the Husdon River Museum. Donald now lives and maintains a studio on the North Shore of Boston where he continues to focus on sharing his distinct and inspiring vision of the landscape.
